“I’m Not A Terrorist, But I’ve Played One On TV”

Limited number of VIP tickets with Meet & Greet available.

Maz Jobrani follows up this bestselling book with a hilarious comedy special of the same title. In his laugh-out-loud memoir, Maz shares his struggle to build an acting career, as he was always asked to play a terrorist, but never got to audition for any doctor or lawyer parts. A hilarious story about his quest to make it in Hollywood without having to wear a turban or to tote a bomb. He takes on political issues, social issues and his kids through the lens of his Iranian-American background to show that we have a lot more in common than we think.

He is a founding member of The Axis of Evil Comedy Tour, a tour featuring four Middle Eastern comedians and their special guests, which first aired on Comedy Central.  He has had three Showtime comedy specials, “Brown and Friendly”, “I Come in Peace” and most recently “I’m Not a Terrorist, but I’ve Played one on TV”. He performs stand-up live around the world, including the Middle East in front of the King of Jordan. Maz has also ‘stand-upped’ on the “The Tonight Show” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”.

Most recently, Maz starred as the title character in the award-winning indie comedy, “Jimmy Vestvood: Amerikan Hero”, a film that he co-wrote and produced. In the summer of 2015 he played the role of Jafar from Aladdin in the Disney movie “The Descendants”. With over 50 guest star appearances, Maz can be regularly seen on television’s most popular shows. Guest stars include “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, “True Blood”, and “Shameless”. He is a regular panellist on NPR’s “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me” and has given 2 TED Talks. His LA Times Best Selling Book, “I’m Not a Terrorist, but I’ve Played one on TV”, was published by Simon & Schuster, and hit shelves in February 2015.

Maz’s previous stop in Antwerp was an instant success and rumour has it he’s especially excited to visit Belgium again.  Get ready for an unforgettable night, filled with audience participation, making fun of stereotypes without sparing anyone.

There are a limited number of VIP-tickets available. These are good quality seats in the theatre, accompanied with a Meet & Greet with Maz before the show. Practical details will be communicated closer to the showdate to these ticketbuyers separately.

Young Iranian-Dutch comedian Farbod Moghaddam will open for Maz. He also warmed up for Max Amini when he performed in The Netherlands last year. When Maz was in The Netherlands in 2010, Farbod, aspiring comedian at the time, had the chance to interview the experienced Iranian-American comedian. Six years later, they will meet each other again, on stage!
